- Home is where we can let our guards down and unwind.
- A few ways to make our homes a sanctuary are designing a Me Time corner, use natural lighting and turning your bathroom into a spa.
Where do you go when you need to take off your mask?
We are always putting up a front when we are in the eyes of the public. Standing tall, faking smiles and showing confidence when sometimes, all we want to do is crawl under the covers and hide away.
At some point, playing pretend gets exhausting.
Everyone needs a place they can go to when things get overwhelming, and what better place can that be other than the comforts of your own home? Especially with the threat of Covid-19 lurking around, staying home is the best way to keep safe!
So here are some things you can do to make your home the best sanctuary in order for you to gather yourself in private:
1. A “Me-Time” Corner

Dedicate a space for you, and only you. Perhaps decorate this space with soothing colours, aromatherapy candles, and a stereo for light music. It is advisable to keep electronic gadgets away so you can be protected from the negativity of the outside world.
Also, clear out clutters and remove things that remind you of stressors. Anything that reminds you of work? Out! Reminds you of an ex? Outtttt.
2. Allow natural lighting

Open up your windows!
Allowing natural light into your home can do wonders for your well-being. It helps improve mood and health. In fact, being exposed to sunlight during the morning hours helps calibrate the body’s internal “circadian” clock, leading to better sleep quality at night. With a sufficient amount of zzz’s, your productivity levels will spike and get you up and running first thing in the morning.

While you are it, it is also a good idea to take in the fresh air as well. Let nature into your life!
3. Turn your bathroom into a spa

This doesn’t mean you have to fork out a lot of money for remodelling! Even if you do not own a bathtub to soak in with rose petals and a glass of wine the way they do in the movies, it’s fine!
Start small by treating yourself to luxurious bath products. How about a foamy, relaxing body wash with a scent you like and a rejuvenating face scrub that leaves you feeling pampered and your skin looking flawless?
Next, stack up some plush, fluffy towels and a big, warm bathrobe to throw on after a long therapeutic shower. You will definitely feel like all your troubles have melted down the drain!
As cliché as this might sound, home really is where the heart is. A small change in making your home a better living space will go a long way towards changing your life as a whole.
So wind down, give yourself a pat on the back for getting through the day, and regroup before going back out there stronger than before.
