Essential oils have been around for ages and for a good reason. These aromatic blends aren’t just nice smelling fragrances, they are known for their health benefits. Researchers have found that essential oils can be used as a form of alternative and complementary therapies alongside mainstream medicine.

You might even be using essential oils without realising it! In our Asian household, who hasn’t used Vicks VapoRub? It is a blend of camphor, eucalyptus oil and nutmeg oil, among many others.

Essential oils for 6 different occasions

Just getting started with essential oils? Here are 6 ways to use them.

1. Stress Relief

Many of us were pushed to start working from home due to the ongoing pandemic. Being unable to separate our work from our home lives, we were bound to experience increased stress as we adapt to the ever-changing COVID-19 situation.

If you find yourself mentally pressured, try a blend of lavender, bergamot and ylang ylang to lower your blood pressure and heart rate to relax the mind and body.

2.Stop Snoring

If you or your partner have a snoring problem, thyme and marjoram are known to curb snoring. These oils can also treat asthma and promote respiratory wellness. We also recommend adding a few drops of lavender and vetiver for a more peaceful night of sleep.

Living in Southeast Asia or a tropical country, bugs are a common problem. They just love coming out to play during the summer.

To keep the spiders and mosquitoes away, try making your own natural bug spray by mixing a few drops of lavender, lemon and tea tree oil into a spray bottle filled with mild detergent and water. Tea tree oil can also treat lice, while lavender and roman chamomile oils can relieve bee stings.

We love how essential oils are versatile and can conveniently be used for almost anything. Simply diffusing these oils for an hour or so is enough to make your house smell divine and calm your mind.

Some of our favourite places to get quality essential oils are Young Living and dōTERRA. Don’t be shy to check them out!
